How To Overclock CPU

We are going to talk about on how to overclock cpu easily and safely so your computer will be running fast and without any system instabilities. How much you are going to overclock totally depends on your processor type (CPU) and your cooling system (cooler) on it. Overclocking your amd/intel processor can be easily done in your BIOS which is by the best and safest way to overclock your cpu but of course the most safest way on how to overclock cpu is by taking it to someone how knows most things about overclocking the cpus. Overclocking your CPU can be really fun but it is also dangerous if you do not know properly on how to overclock cpu because if you overheat your processor it can easily be destroyed but mostly your computer will shut down before it overheats because of the safety of your processor.

Now let us begin, to start this process simply restart your computer and start pressing (DEL,F2,F1 or F10) to access your bios (totally depends on your motherboard on what button to press but it is written when you start up your computer).

Now once you are in bios, you should start looking for these settings (click on the image for full screen):

What you are looking for is the setting: CPU CLOCK or CPU HOST FREQUENCY (MHZ) or Adjust CPU Frequency (mhz) which again depends on what kind of motherboard you are having in your computer. On some INTEL processor you should be looking for FSB or Front side bus. What FSB does is that it increases both the CPU and RAM speed of your computer. Sometimes your BIOS can be locked so the only way on how to overclock CPU will be the overclocking utilities that are avaliable on the internet.

So How To Overclock CPU?

Start by changing your CPU Frequency (mhz) by increasing it for 5 and always after you change the value that you make sure to save the changes you made and restart your computer to test if there are any system failures so the system won’t boot because if it doesn’t boot then you must go back into the bios and decrease your CPU Frequency or increase your CPU Voltage (keep the voltage as low as possible). On stock cooler which is the one that was shipped with the CPU you should keep in mind that you should overclock your CPU for 0.3 – 0.5 GHZ MAX!

After you have successfully overclocked your computer you should always start testing for the instabilities of your system with the tool:

PRIME95 which can be downloaded below:

Make sure you have everything closed because what PRIME95 does is that it will test your computer speed by putting everything at full speed so it will check if there are any system instabilities which will basically take 100% of your processor usage so do the PRIME test when you have found your best cpu overclocking settings and test so nothing goes wrong.

Caution: Attempting to overclock your CPU can increase your system’s performance by raising your bus speeds and increasing your CPU speed beyond the default at which your processor was sold and designed to run on your computer. By overclocking your CPU you will rise your computer running speed but be aware that you will have to raise the voltage of the CPU, since your are pushing your CPU beyond the limit, which also then generates more heat on your CPU. Overclocking could cause your system to shut down often if you do not know what could be the limit of overclocking your processor and can also cause random system instability.

Keep in mind and check your BIOS for the temperature on your CPU because it should be under 70°C to avoid the limit of overclocking. You can also find utilities that will display your CPU temperature and cpu performance on the internet which will help you monitor the temperature of your cpu temperature without going into your BIOS again.

This are all the basics on how to overclock CPU
